Luke 11, 37-41

Date posted: October 13, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 11, 37-41
After Jesus had spoken, a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home. He entered and reclined at table to eat.
The Pharisee was amazed to see that he did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal.
The Lord said to him, “Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with
plunder and evil.
You fools! Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside?
But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.”

Reflection
The gospel tells us to be cautious on our judgement. Goodness does not based on physical appearance rather is found in the
internal disposition as to what good actions been rendered. Character traits are the basis to see what kind of person are
revealed. Internality has the higher value than externality. What can we do to balance our actions both internally and
externally?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith provides an opportunity to discover God’s dynamic presence through his Words. Inner
self has a higher value than external. It is the goodness of heart that God sees in us. One does not need to prove that he or
she attains the best physical appearance. The pureness of heart attains perfection of beauty in the eyes of God. As
Lasallians, we are being challenge to attain the perfection of beauty; mastering outstanding character, patterned after the
heart of Jesus. Let us be reminded by the gospel to set forth for God’s mission.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
