Luke 12, 49-53

Date posted: October 22, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 12, 49-53
Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.
From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

Reflection
The gospel is about the reality of truth and the light of Jesus. Following Jesus entails animo in the soul. One should be able to stand for what is true and what is just to see the light coming from Christ. Let us always say “YES” in defending and living out the truth. How do you stand for the truth? In what ways do you radiate the light of Christ?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, “the spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan.” Living in truth sets everyone free. But truth sometimes make us feel hurt; for one reason, that in facing the reality makes us realize what it means the righteousness coming from God. We need to accept the reality in order to find its meaning and see the light that the Lord is bringing to us. As Lasallians, we to bear witness to the truth and to the light of Christ.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many. We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us. St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
