Luke 16, 9-15

Date posted: November 7, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 16, 9-15
Jesus said to his disciples: “I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth, so that when it fails, you will be
welcomed into eternal dwellings. The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones; and the
person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones. If, therefore, you are not trustworthy with
dishonest wealth, who will trust you with true wealth? If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours? No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and
despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

Reflection
The gospel tells about whose servant we are. It is evident that only one master should be given reverence and it is God. Jesus
is reminding the disciples to put God above all things and set as the highest priority than wealth. Yes mammon is needed in
one’s daily living, but if one trust God and do his or her part, then everything would be in its place. Whom do I serve, is it God
or mammon?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to discover God’s active presence in his Word, in men and
women, in the poor, in nature, in history, and in ourselves.” God is our higher priority than anything else. Yes we need money
for our daily sustenance but it does not need to be the main priority of our lives for without God we are nothing. As Lasallians,
we need to acknowledge God’s providence and His ways. Let us allow ourselves to be truthful to God as our master and
provider so that all our labour will be blessed a hundredfold.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
