Luke 6,1-5

Date posted: September 2, 2022

September 3, 2022 (Saturday)
Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 6,1-5
While Jesus was going through a field of grain on a sabbath, his disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in
their hands, and eating them. Some Pharisees said, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?” Jesus said to them in reply, “Have you not read what David did when he and those (who were) with him were hungry? (How) he went into the house of God, took the bread of offering, which only the priests could lawfully eat, ate of it, and shared it with his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath.”

Reflection
Whose power should prevail? The government’s, or the Lord’s? Maybe some of us are wandering as to why huge conflicts
regarding the views of the government and the church usually oppose. Just like the context of the gospel, it draws changes to ones way of living as it affects the people negatively. Most people are influenced by such, that it paves way to depart oneself towards one. It simply implies that we should know on how to use the freedom that the Lord had given to us. I pray that this gift of freedom will be used intellectually by everyone, especially our rulers who have the power to make changes in our motherland. Whose authority should prevail in me, the heavenly or the earthly power in seeking out the supreme good?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to search for God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan.”
Since at present times, people tend to be living with what one’s environment dictates, some are deprived of freedom. It is in this sense that when you’re not able to conform to the society’s standards, you are considered to be different. You may be judged which leads to hindrances as to how you want to prosper as an individual. Undeniably, it gives despair for some, as it sets barrier to one’s success. However, if we live by the traits of Saint John Baptist de la Salle i.e., with the strong foundation for faith to the Lord, no law shall be a restraint for one to grow behind the image of the Lord.

Prayer
Synod on Synodality Prayer
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
