Luke 9:7-9

Date posted: September 24, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Luke 9:7-9
Now Herod the ruler heard about all that had taken place, and he was perplexed, because it was
said by some that John had been raised from the dead, by some that Elijah had appeared, and by
others that one of the ancient prophets had arisen. Herod said, “John I beheaded; but who is this
about whom I hear such things?” And he tried to see him.

Reflection
Sometimes, in our lives, we experience guilt because of the things we’ve done in the past. In the
Gospel, we heard Herod who wanted to see the man who appeared to the people because he feared
that it might be John whom he beheaded. Now, the Gospel is reminding us to act according to God’s
will rather than the desire to impress people. With this, we can live with a peaceful mind and pure
hearts. Whom do you seek to please? Will you have the courage to tell the truth?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the “spirit of faith allows one to discover God’s active presence in his Word, in
men and women, in the poor, in nature, in history, and in ourselves.” Faith isn’t just a notion that
some people hold onto in tough times. As Lasallians, we must embody the spirit of faith because it
will help us to get us through, illuminating the pathway in times of darkness, helping us to get through
weakness. For without faith, we are nothing.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
