Matthew 15:1-2.10-11

Date posted: August 4, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 15:1-2.10-11
Some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,
Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They do not wash (their) hands when they eat a meal. He summoned the crowd and said to them, “Hear and understand.
It is not what enters one’s mouth that defiles that person; but what comes out of the mouth is what defiles one.”

Reflection
The gospel tells us about what is pure and impure. As Filipinos, we are accustomed with the different traditions that we inherit from our ancestors. But the gospel reminded us to be vigilant and contemplate deeper on the meaning of such customs. Let us remember that God already gave His teachings through Jesus Christ which is sufficient and necessary for our salvation. Let us ask ourselves, how do we consider God’s word in our life?

Lasallian Guiding Principles
LGP states that, “Lasallian learners are unique and gifted individuals who express concern and compassion for the plight of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of society and respond to their needs.” As Lasallians, we can consider this time as a perfect time to highlight the value of companionship with our brothers & sisters, especially our dear frontliners who continually risk their lives for us to succeed in these trying times.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives. We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need. We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us! St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us! Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
