August 19, 2023 (Saturday)
Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Matthew 19,13-15
Then little children were being brought to him in order that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The
disciples spoke sternly to those who brought them; but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and
do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” And he laid his hands on
them and went on his way.

Reflection:
In today’s Gospel we hear these words, “Children were brought to Jesus that he might lay his hands on
them and pray. The disciples rebuked them, but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not
prevent them; for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Young people are the focus of our
ministry as educators. We have been given a special responsibility. John Baptist de La Salle reminds us
that God as entrusted to us the care of the young. Our ministry of teaching is one of the most important in
the Church. Let us pray for the gifts we need in our teaching ministry and for those young people who have
been entrusted to our care. Let us keep in mind our Founder’s words, “Your students are living images of
Jesus” and let us pray that we will have eyes to see in those we encounter our ministry. (Br. Mark Mckeon,
FSC)

Lasallian Guiding Principle:
LGP states that, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to judge and evaluate things in the light of the
gospel.” (1) allows believers to interpret, judge and evaluate reality in the light of the gospel; (2) moves and
motivates them to contribute actively to the fulfillment of God’s saving plan; (3) enables them to take
necessary risks and act with boldness in accomplishing what is demanded by each situation, placing their
trust in God’s providence to guide, sustain and make fruitful their efforts. (Dr. Nancy Balatay)

Prayer:
Synod on Synodality Prayer

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, Make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.

St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
