Matthew 25, 1-13

Date posted: November 8, 2020

November 8, 2020 (Sunday)

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

 Matthew 25, 1-13
Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet
the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with
them, but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and
fell asleep. At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins got up and
trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise
ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’
While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the
door was locked. Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I
say to you, I do not know you.’ Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

Reflection
The gospel tells us to stay awake for the coming of the bridegroom is unpredictable. Jesus told his disciple to prepare
themselves everyday so that when the Bridegroom comes they are ready to meet Him. Be spiritually wise and have an inner
disposition of welcoming the Bridegroom. Are you prepared to meet the Bridegroom? How are you preparing for that
encounter?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in the LGP, the spirit of faith is a “spirit that allows one to discover God’s active presence in his Word, in men and
women, in the poor, in nature, in history, and in ourselves.” Wisdom of God leads us to readiness for the coming of the
bridegroom. As Lasallians, we need to prepare ourselves personally to welcome Him with joyful hearts. Let us implore the aid
of the Holy Spirit to gain wisdom and delight in God’s presence.

ORATIO IMPERATA on the threat of COVID-19
God our Father,
We come to you in our need
To ask your protection against the COVID-19 Virus, That has claimed lives and has affected many.
We pray for your grace
For the people tasked with studying the nature and cause
Of this virus and its disease
And of stemming the tide of its transmission.
Guide the hands and minds of medical experts
That they may minister to the sick
With competence and compassion,
And of those governments and private agencies
That must find cure and solution to this epidemic.
We pray for those afflicted
May they be restored to health soon.
Grant us the grace to work for the good of all
And to help those in need.
Grant this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
forever and ever. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
