Matthew 9:35-36

Date posted: July 7, 2020

Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Matthew 9:35-36
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of
the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Reflection
The gospel tells us about suffering. Spiritual, emotional and physical suffering often go hand in hand.
Sometimes, our simple presence would mean a lot to those who are suffering. This is one way of showing
compassion. How do we make ourselves available to listen or just be present with someone who is suffering?

Lasallian Guiding Principle
LGP states that, “Lasallian learners are unique and gifted individuals who express concern and compassion for the plight of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of society and respond to their needs.” In our situation today, many of us experience suffering and fear due to this pandemic. All of us feel helpless and threatened but the gospel reminds us Jesus is always present in our life. As Lasallians, we must be compassionate to everyone entrusted to us just like what Jesus did to helpless people.

Oratio Imperata Against the COVID-19
God our Father, we come to You in our need to ask Your protection
against the COVID-19 that has disturbed us and claimed many lives.
We pray that You guide the people tasked
to find cure for this disease and to stem its transmission.
Protect the medical experts and healthcare personnel
that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.
We pray for those afflicted, may they be restored to health soon.
Protect those who care for them.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died.
Give us grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need.
We implore You to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son
who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God forever and ever. Amen.
Our Lady of the Star, pray for us!
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us!
St. Miguel Febres Cordero, pray for us!
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
