DLSUMC: New normal, new programs and services

April 8, 2021 | 9:34 am

The pandemic has challenged the way we do things, particularly in health care. Aware of the worries and concerns of their patients, DLSUMC devised new ways by which patients can continue to take care of their health and well-being while assuaging their fears and safety concerns.

Rt-PCR testing for COVID-19

RT-PCR COVID testing

The DLSMHSI molecular laboratory, the Cavite De La Salle COVID-19 Diagnostic Center (CDCDC) conducts RT-PCR testing, the gold standard in detecting the SARS-COV-2 virus which causes COVID-19. It was established in partnership with the Provincial government of Cavite, thus the laboratory processes specimens from cities and municipalities all over Cavite.

To provide a safe space for non COVID suspects, particularly for those who need COVID-19 clearance for medical procedures, the CDCDC has set up a spacious and open-air swabbing center. Those who have had exposure to a COVID positive patient or are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 are not swabbed at this center and are instead directed to the Emergency Room or their respective local health offices for proper assessment. To ensure crowd control, swabbing is strictly by appointment. Patients can book an appointment thru Messenger at “La Salle COVID Testing Center” or email at covidlab@dlshsi.edu.ph.

Rapid Antigen Testing
The rapid antigen test uses nasal or nasopharyngeal swab specimens to check if the person had an active COVID-19
infection. Results are available 3 hours after swabbing.

The Rapid Antigen Testing can only be availed by booking an appointment a day before the preferred schedule. Patients can call DLSUMC’s Laboratory at (046) 481-8000/ (02) 8988-3100, local 1208 or 0956 820 7489, 8:00am -4:00 PM daily.
Collection of swab specimens is from Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Rapid antigen and antibody test

Rapid antibody testing
This test determines if a patient’s immune system has developed antibodies that fight the COVID-19 virus. Just like RT-PCR testing and rapid antigen testing, rapid antibody testing can be availed thru booking an appointment by

calling the DLSUMC Laboratory between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily.

DLSUMC also offers Onsite Rapid Antibody Testing for organizations and companies, with a minimum requirement of 50 persons.
