March 17, 2021 | 9:10 am

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Cavite has designated De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences  Institute as a vaccination site for the province’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program.

As a vaccination site, DLSMHSI, particularly its hospital, the De La Salle University Medical Center and its COVID testing laboratory will play important roles in the vaccination program that aims to reach a critical majority of the population to ensure herd immunity against SARS- COV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Currently,

DLSUMC’s Vaccination Team, headed by Dr. Queenie Dacayo-Layon is already deep into training, coordination and planning activities with both various professional societies and the local government’s health offices as  the government and the private sector work together to implement the biggest and most consequential vaccination program in years.

DLSMHSI’s COVID testing laboratory, the Cavite-De La Salle COVID-19 Diagnostic Center (CDCDC) has also been tapped by the PHO for the management of the cold chain necessary to bring the vaccines safely to waiting arms.
“This designation as a vaccination center is an honor for DLSMHSI. From the start of this pandemic, we have time and again readily stepped up to work with our local government units in responding to this public health emergency. This is another of those calls that we are ready to respond to,” says DLSMHSI’s Chancellor, Dr. Antonio Ramos.
