Intro to La Salle and Contextualizing and Living Out the Lasallian Guiding Principles Sessions for All Incoming First Year and Second Year Students, SY 2016-2017

Objectives   
This program endeavors to integrate the Life of SJBDLS in the DLSHSI curriculum and live out and contextualize the Lasallian Guiding Principles. Specifically, it aims to:

  1. Orient the incoming freshman and sophomore students about the life of SJBDLS and the existence of the LGP;
  2. Involve all incoming freshman and sophomore students in the discussion of the LGP through the different programs, team building activities and individual/group presentations and sessions;
  3. Live out and contextualize all lessons learned from the discussion on the life of SJBDLS and LGP; and
  4. Assess the implementation of the Intro to La Salle and Lasallian Guiding Principles sessions.

New units under the Office of the Student Services (OSS)The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) mandates that all tertiary institutions create the Gender and Development Unit. CHED shall visit the private tertiary institutions this SY 2016-2017 to monitor whether the office is in place. Likewise, effective June 1, 2016, the National Service Training Program Unit shall be under the OSS.

Updates from the Twelfth Academic Operations Committee (VCA Council) Meeting held on May 25, 2016

Academics Division
  1. Scholarship grant from Commission on Higher Education. CHED has already released the Php588,000 scholarship grant to DLSHSI.
  2. Academic Operations Committee Culminating Activity. The members of the Academic Operations Committee (Deans and Directors) shall have their culminating activity on June 6, 2016 at the Resorts World, Manila.

College of Medicine

  1. CM Year-End Planning Workshop and Team Building held on May 19-20, 2016 in Nurture Wellness Village, Tagaytay City.
  2. Seminar on The Basics of Simulation-Based Healthcare Education. The College shall be sponsoring a seminar on the topic The Basics of Simulation-Based Healthcare Education to be held on June 9-10, 2016 at CM Auditorium 1.

College of Rehabilitation Sciences

  1. Wheelchair Mission in SM Santa Rosa and San Pedro, Laguna held on May 23, 2016. A total of 33 wheelchairs were distributed.

College of Nursing

  1. CN Year End Evaluation, Planning and Culminating Activity scheduled on May 30-June 2,2016
  2. Mass for NLE Takers. CN shall sponsor Mass for the Nurse Licensure Exam takers on June 3,2016. The NLE shall be on June 5-6,2016.
  3. CN Research Workshop set on June 15-17, 2016.

College of Medical Radiation Technology

  1. CMLS Bukluran 2015. This college-initiated community outreach participated in by faculty members, non-teaching personnel and volunteer students was held on April 26, 2016 at “Home for Boys” in Emilio Aguinaldo, Bailen, Cavite.  Activities included Health Education and Workshop on Parasitism, Handwashing, and Maintaining Proper Hygiene in the morning and Laboratory Testing such as blood typing and urinalysis and Gift-giving of hygiene kits, slippers, vitamins/supplements, grocery items, and sack of rice in the afternoon.
  2. CMLS faculty members attended the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology Annual Convention on May 25-27, 2016 at La Carmela Boracay, Aklan
  3. CMLS Teambuilding held on May 28-30, 2016 at Caticlan, Boracay to be attended by faculty members and non-teaching personnel

Romeo P. Ariniego MD Library Services

  1. Evaluation of Singapore Book Collection. Library Director Efren M. Torres, Jr. presented to the group the results of the evaluation of the Singapore Book Selection. The data show that generally, all participants were very satisfied with the conduct of the Book Selection in Singapore. Participants are generally recommending for the continuation of the book selection and that this shall be handled again by Forefront Book Company.
